The joy in creating has been with me since the first time I was given magic markers as a seven-year-old child, and the excitement never ended.

Putting down that

first mark on a blank page, whether doing an abstract painting or a drawing from life, is thrilling.

After a Foundation course at Wimbledon and Illustration degree at Kingston University, I have worked as a freelance illustrator in New York and London. I have made ceramics, mosaics, and jewellery. Since leaving commissioned work behind I have fallen in love with abstract work; which involves intuitive early mark-making and later more conscious decisions. Whereas before I would have a definite idea of what a final piece might look like, with abstract work I may not know where I am going for much of the process. There is something magical about that.

It occurs to me that in my other job as a therapist I work within the emotional world of my clients, when I paint, I am processing my own emotions through the various mediums and techniques to express what sometimes feels inexpressible.
