Rusty re-entry
After 4 weeks away, dealing with clearing my parents’ house in Portugal I stumble into my lovely Hanley Art class which I haven’t been too properly since Covid made a mess of everything. After 18 months of falling in love with abstract work I gaze at the still life in front of me. What used to be something to observe and draw or paint I am all at sea. Abstract is still calling me, and although I am not unhappy with what I’ve done (the main thing was to play with pastels as I feel this is going to be coming into the abstract work very soon), it doesn’t excite me the way starting an abstract painting does. Still, it’s all about getting back into the swing of things. How to bring the abstract brain to the real? That is the question.
